Raised in Ul'dah, Helisent grew up mostly on the streets. From a young age she often started problems, and always finished them. Her guardian tried her best to guide Helisent, but the wild spirit needed to walk her own path. The troubled youth was eventually lead astray into a life of barbarism and violence. Bandits, criminals and even some former Corpse Brigade; this was her new family. Together they terrorized Southern Thanalan, raiding settlements from Little Ala Mhigo down to Byregot's Strike, and everywhere in between. Helisent spilled a lot of blood over the years, betrayed many, and made a lot of enemies. Plenty a soul from those days are now dead or locked away, never to see the light of day again... And yet, Helisent walks the streets of Ul'dah a free woman. A new chapter had begun, but surely some sins of the past would not go unforgotten.

Ghosts always linger, but a new day had dawned. A 'Philanthropist' would not be the word Helisent would have expected to use to explain what she does, and yet these days it's the most fitting title for the wild spirit. A high-end hunter accepting specialized contracts from vetted clients to solve issues big and small. Contracts that have to meet her moral standards, and pay that often gets overlooked if the job is 'for the right reasons'. A provider and advocate for Pearl Lane, bringing in support networks, supplies in the form of food and medicines, and even teaching a pathways program to the youth, offering eventual approval into the Pugilists Guild when they are of age, if they wish to pursue it! Finally; Helisent works along side her wife, and founder, of the Global Relief Corps. Spending the majority of her time helping with disaster relief and foreign aid to those in need.

What one may first notice about Helisent is that her dull jade gaze seems to brighten as her interest in something - or someone - grows. Her sun-kissed skin is dusted with darker freckles sprinkled across the bridge of her nose, and the tops of her cheeks. Scars - old and new - are scattered about her features; a small slice across her cheek, a cut on her chin, a jagged rip down over her right eye, and a tear at the corner of her lower lip, often curled into a cheeky grin regardless of her visible marring - ever the confident thing.

This brute of a woman doesn't stick to a particular style of attire. As time has passed her fashion has drifted from furs and leathers to a more civilised aesthetic. Though, it isn't rare to see Helisent slipping back into her old ways, and returning to more primitive clothing.

While Helisent doesn't put much thought into accessories, she often gets around sporting them regardless. Rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings. Head-bands, hand wraps, gloves. Various belts and straps for who-knows-what. Segments of individual armor, as if she gave up half way through putting on, or taking off a full set. The only 'accessory' she puts any conscious thought into is her wedding ring, which is always proudly worn.

Helisent distinctly smells of firewood and wild flowers. The distant smell of fresh rain. Dirt sometimes, dust other times. If she has been active or the days especially hot? Sweat. On a lazy day? A hint of ale, likely. Perhaps a subtle fragrance of fancy perfume if her wife has been extra affectionate.

Over the years, Helisent has made a name for herself as quite the hunter and problem solver. Beasts? She's the baddest out there. Monsters? They fear seeing her in the dark. The dark-hearted men and women unlucky enough to attract Helisent's attention? They can run but they can't hide. Helisent is always available to be approached for a job, but expect her to be thorough in her questioning of the details, and have a full coin purse, too.

BACK ALLEY SAINT.
Saint Helisent of the Lanes: A watchful eye over even the most forgotten slums in the deep Lanes. Helping the locals with food, medicines, supplies and general safety. She grew up in Pearl Lane causing trouble in her youth, though over the last few years Helisent has been actively working to help make it a better place. Any denizens may know of her good deeds in present days, or her misdeeds from years long gone as a scrappy little trouble maker.

SOMEONE'S VILLAIN.
Her hands are stained with the blood of the innocent. For much of her youth and early adulthood Helisent was a violent raider who terrorized Southern Thanalan. Pillage, plunder, murder, destruction. Attacking settlements, ambushing caravans, and even dabbling in slave trade. While this was another life for her, others may understandably not be so willing to let go of the past. Some may seek her out for revenge for her vile crimes of days past.

SOMEONE'S HERO.
While Helisent's hands are still stained with blood, in recent years she's been working towards redemption. From teaching the youth of Ul'dah the basics of self-defense under the Pugilist Guild, to actively participating in relief efforts in such places as Garlemald and Thavnair in the aftermath of war and The Final Days. If you've seen her around outside of a local drinking hole, it would have likely been her doing some good deed or another to try right her past wrongs.

Drink~! All work and no play makes Helisent a dull girl. Sometimes it's nice to unwind and banter. To drink and laugh the night away. Going to the beach, or going camping. Slice of Life is fine and I am welcoming to any walk up roleplay when my tag is active. Though not all Roleplay needs to be a carefully discussed narrative, I'm also more than happy to discuss ideas and give more details about any listed hook if you'd like to brainstorm!

Helisent was trained from a young age in the ways of melee combat by a former 'Riskbreaker'. From various hand to hand martial arts, to martial weaponry of all sorts. She's not quite a Monk and not quite a Warrior, but a combination of the two making her quite the hardy fighter. While Helisent lacks the knowledge and ability in casting spells, she is able to manipulate the aether that flows through her body, enabling 'boosts' in her physical performance in times of need.

A simple wood-cutting axe that Helisent has a fondness for. When punching doesn't do the job, chopping usually will. Besides it's durability, there isn't anything special about this axe.

Much like her axe, Helisent's hatchet possesses nothing extraordinary about it besides it's sturdy make, and bizarrely impressive aerodynamics when it's thrown. Once more it's a weapon she's fond of, and almost always has it holstered on her hip during battle.

Manipulating the aether that flows through her body, Helisent can 'boost' her abilities making her strikes pack an extra punch, or raising her strength when performing physical feats.fleet footed
Increasing the flow rate of her internal aether, Helisent can perform burst movement, covering a few meters distance in a blink of an eye. This ability takes quite the toll on her body and it's rare for Helisent to attempt it more than three times without a rest in between.fierce tempered
When enraptured in battle, Helisent is oft overcome by a bloodlust. When she does; combat becomes a much more fun and enjoyable experience. Acting as a second wind of sorts, being struck by an enemy fills Helisent with life and urges her to fight harder, and strike back twice as fierce. This often doesn't happen during 'serious' combat scenarios where she must keep her wits about her.binding circle
Helisent's casting ability begins and ends with this one simple trapping spell taught to her by her friend, Ebony Sage. The binding circle is a simple pattern of aether-infused geometry drawn onto a surface that will 'trap' whatever it is that disturbed the pattern. The trap becomes less effective towards stronger targets, whether magical or physical, and is used for a brief 'stun' to gain an advantage.enhancing brews
While Helisent enjoys a cold ale or two after a long day of work, she's also got quite the iron stomach for concoctions and toxins, too. She often takes various alchemical vials with her on hunts; from potions that make ones blood immune to poisons, to brews that adjust the sensitivity of the eyes, causing someone to gain 'dark vision'. While all these effects are temporary, Helisent has grown used to downing whichever potions will help with her confrontations with beasts and monsters alike, regardless of their gods awful taste.

Helisent's heart. Her most trusted companion. A beacon of warm light, comfortable and radiant. Her love, her wife. Most of all; she is home. From day one the pair had an instant connection, and what begun as flirty banter developed into a deep respect and understanding from one violent, broken soul to another. A friendship blossomed, and love eventually followed. The two may not be connected at the hip, but they are never too far from each other. Helisent is loyal to Hildegard above all else, come hells or high-water.
One of Helisent's closest friends. She'd class the Dalmascan Rose as a 'sister' if she didn't find her so attractive. While Helisent's considers Simmerling her main training partner, it isn't the reason the two share a deeper connection. Their strong bond comes from a more emotional connection, where the two have opened up about themselves on a number of occasions. While Helisent is usually quite the walled off woman, her guard is often lowered around Simmerling. She's one of the few she truly trusts.
A pair of gremlins who both make Helisent's life amusingly miserable, and fill it with laughter and joy at the same time. Helisent doesn't know what it's like to have younger sisters; but these two provide her with a similar experience. She picks on them both constantly. While Yone is childishly fearful of the brute, Melsy will always return fire with quips of her own. Helisent wouldn't give her life for either of them, but she'd likely offer to take someone else's on their behalf.
Another of Helisent's closest friends. While they do share an emotional bond of sorts, it's more the casual comfort of being similar minded that connect these two. They hunt together, they work together and they drink together. Helisent swears by Wargeim being the best blacksmith in all of Thanalan and promotes her services every opportunity she gets. Not only is she proud of Wargeim being such a talented crafter, she prides herself on being the blacksmiths best customer.
Perhaps Helisent's oldest friend. Ebony is a never-ending pool of magical knowledge for Helisent, always reliable if she needs to find answers in things she doesn't understand. While the pair don't share many similarities, or even common interests, something has always bought their paths back together time and time again. Even though they butt-heads quite regularly, there is no doubt a respect and care that flows both ways between the two. Even if they don't always show it.
The antiquarian responsible for being one of the constant sources of Gil for the dune-walking warrior. While their relationship begun as purely professional, over the years Annalise has continued as Helisent's client and has hired her for multiple contracts time and time again. Eventually the two grew closer, the gil and work became less of a focus to their contact, and a wholesomely genuine friendship bloomed between two individuals who couldn't be any more opposites if they tried.

IC=/=OOC, under no circumstances will line-blurring or OOC aggression over RP be tolerated.

I'd prefer you found out more about Helisent through RP and development rather than rely on this Carrd, so it's all kept kind of vague on purpose.
Combat - Helisent is considered a 'high-powered' character, and has developed to this point naturally over the years I've actively played her. While I do prefer freeform combat, RNG/Dice Combat isn't off the table. Either way combat goes, I'd appreciate you sending me a /tell in advance so we can discuss the details of it before proceeding IC. [EXAMPLE:] Helisent is a warrior-monk, and roleplaying an RNG fistfight only to constantly roll 1's against a drunken merchant with no combat training is a fast way to break immersion for all involved.
If my status in-game is set to 'RP' then I'm in character, so feel free to walk up! If it's not on, then also feel free to send me a /tell expressing interest in RP! I'm always happy to spontaneously get IC no matter where we are. No harm in asking.
